Google Wallet order tracking not working? What to check
When an order doesn't appear in Google Wallet, the cause is almost always one of five things. Work through them in order, and if none applies, add the tracking number yourself.
Five things to check
- Are you in the US? Google says order tracking in Wallet is currently only available there.
- Is package tracking on in Gmail? Open Gmail's settings, choose your account, and turn on package tracking along with smart features in other Google products.
- Are Gmail and Google Wallet on the same Google account? Wallet can only read the Gmail it is signed in to.
- Did the order email reach that Gmail account? Orders sent to a work address or another provider are never seen.
- Does the shop take part? Google describes the feature as working for supported shops, so a small seller might not show up.
Where to look in Wallet
Orders arriving soon sit on the Wallet home screen. Everything else is under View more, then View more transactions, then Orders. You might be asked to verify it's you before the list opens.
When Google Wallet has nothing to show: add the tracking number yourself
If Google never found the order, or you only have a tracking number from a seller or a friend, TrackIt fills the gap. Go to trackit.international/android, paste the number, sign in and tap Add to Google Wallet. TrackIt detects the carrier from the number and keeps the pass updated as the parcel is scanned.
Common questions
Why isn't my package showing in Google Wallet?
The usual reasons are that you're outside the US, package tracking is off in Gmail, the order email went to a different account, or the shop isn't supported.
How long does an order take to appear?
Google doesn't give a time. If the order email is in Gmail and tracking is on, it normally shows up from there. If it doesn't, add the tracking number to TrackIt instead of waiting.
Can I add a package to Google Wallet by hand?
Not in Wallet itself. TrackIt does it from the tracking number.
Does it cost anything?
Looking up a parcel is free. Saving a parcel to Google Wallet uses one token, which costs $0.59 once-off or is free with a referral code. Premium is unlimited at $1.49 a week or $4.99 a month. Prices are in USD.
