Can Google Wallet track packages?

Yes, but only some of them. Google Wallet lists orders it finds in your Gmail, and Google says that is currently only available in the US. It has no way to type in a tracking number.

What Google Wallet tracks by itself

Once package tracking is switched on in Gmail, Google Wallet reads order emails from supported shops and lists the orders for you. Orders that are arriving soon show on the Wallet home screen, and the rest are under View more, then View more transactions, then Orders.

Tapping Track package on an order opens the carrier's website for the detailed status. Google says the detailed carrier updates come only from participating carriers in the US.

What it doesn't track

  • Parcels outside the US, because Google says the feature is currently only available there.
  • Orders that never reached your Gmail, such as ones sent to a work address or another email provider.
  • Shops Google doesn't support.
  • A parcel you only have a tracking number for. Wallet has no field for one.

When Google Wallet has nothing to show: add the tracking number yourself

If Google never found the order, or you only have a tracking number from a seller or a friend, TrackIt fills the gap. Go to trackit.international/android, paste the number, sign in and tap Add to Google Wallet. TrackIt detects the carrier from the number and keeps the pass updated as the parcel is scanned.
